This beautifully embossed, rectangular coin depicts a 3-dimensional image of the warrior goddess Durga,in the form of Amba. She is usually depicted with eight arms, wielding a rather dazzling selection of arms from the ancient world and mounted upon a very fearsome tiger. She is probably the most popular and most worshipped form of the Mother ever, when one seeks protection against negative influences. This silver (92.5) coin has the goddess richly plated in gold. An elegant border encases her glorious form. During 'Navratri', the goddess is bathed with milk, honey and 'ganga jal' or water from the Ganges. The coin is annointed with sindoor or vermilion powder and grains of rice. Flower-petals are placed as an offering on and around the coin.
