| Based on an Urdu novel by Rajinder Singh Bedi, this story is about Rano (Hema Malini), a woman abused by her mother- in- law and her husband Triloka (Kulbushan Kharbanda), who plies a horse cart by day and drinks and beats her by night. Her troubles seem to be over when her husband is killed but the Panchayat (Village Council) passes a resolution asking her to marry Mangal (Rishi Kapoor), her brother-in-law, whom she has brought up almost as one of her own. How much more will she have to sacrifice to ensure the survival of her children? |
